Demonstration: Femtonics FEMTO Atlas 3D using multi-photon microscopy

    December 1, 2025

The Imaging & Optics Facility is hosting a demonstration of the  the FEMTO3D Atlas – in the 1st week of December.

This system is exceptional due to its speed and possibility to make multi-location scans in a single field of view, as well as making 3D line-scans on axons for instance to image Ca2+ and Voltage imaging. The FEMTO3D Atlas can be used for opto-mechanical stimulation, and be expanded with multiple accessories for e.g. VR-based visual stimulation of fixed animals. In addition, the system is GRIN-lens compatible.
Femtonics will bring their Plug-n-Play system, that is on a roadshow from VBCF (Vienna)  ISTA Graz, where the PnP tours, comes with full on-site assistance. Femtonics can bring Fruit fly (drosophila) and zebrafish larvae (< 5 days post fertilization) to explore the options for calcium imaging, but also “own” mice or Xenopus animals can be used for the test, upon announcement.

11:00: Seminar: Untangling of in vivo dynamics of the neural networks

    December 1, 2025

    Seminar start shifted to 11:15h

The Imaging and Optics Facility, at ISTA is hosting a seminar about the Femtonics FEMTO3D Atlas Multi-photon microscope.

The FEMTO3D Atlas combines high-tech science and engineering in 3D measurements. It implements and goes beyond the traditional galvo and resonant scanner-based imaging functions and combines them with a unique fast 3D imaging feature, providing an All-in-one solution in two-photon microscopy. The FEMTO3D Atlas enables its users to scan cells and neuronal, dendritic, or other biological processes in 3D, up to a million times faster than classical scanning methods, at a preserved two-photon resolution.

This seminar is part of the Femtonics FEMTO Atlas 3D Demonstration: link to event

    December 9, 2025

    Dear all,

Welcome to ISTA  and/or thank you for your interest to start using the Imaging & Optics Facility. To streamline the equipment trainings better, we provide an “New user introduction to Imaging & Optics Facility” to make you aware of our infrastructure, safety guidelines and overall house-rules. This EXTRA introduction is planned for every 2nd Monday of the month, at 14:00h and normally takes less than 1 hour.

ATTENTION: CHANGE OF DATE DUE TO PUBLIC HOLIDAY ON MONDAY 8TH

→ Request for “New user introduction to Imaging & Optics Facility” ←

Please note that we might proceed with organizing trainings, but we will not permit booking / usage right until the introduction has been completed.

    Location: Central Bldg / O1 / Mondi 1
