Cyto Analysis Workstations is dedicated VDI machine for the analysis of flow cytometry data.

  • You will need to book the use of workstation → booking calendar
  • please not that it takes approximately 15 minutes after booking is placed in PPMS for the system to set up your log-in access rights.
  • Please keep yourselves strictly to your booked slots, as logging in from a second user might terminate the session of the previous user. We will need your cooperation on this to let this work smoothly…
  • Penalty point will apply when used incorrectly: kicking out other users by logging in to their booked slots, not signing off properly

Description

How to book, log-on and sign-out of an Cyto WS Analysis PC

You will need to be within the IST Austria network environment:
  • when you are connected to LAN on IST campus
  • use your VPN connection
REMOTE DESKTOP

A remote desktop application is required

  • Windows: Use the remote desktop connection option and log in with the following settings.
  • Apple: please first download an application, such as ‘CoRD’ for remote desktop access.
LOG-IN
  • Servername to connect to: wdbiif005.ista.ac.at
  • Username and password: ISTA\Your PPMS credentials
SIGNING OUT – only “sign out”, do NOT only disconnect!
  • Detach dongle:  Prior to signing off, run the dongle detach script.
  • Sign out: the only way to properly sign-out : start → click your username → sign out.
  • Improperly signing out (e.g. only disconnecting when  you exceed your booked time) keep applications open and can then not be used by other users.

 

SOFTWARE:

For the analysis of Flow Cytometry data, we have various cytometry analysis software applications installed on our analysis workstation, such as: Cell Sorter Software (Sony Biotechnology), CytExpert (Beckman Coulter), Kaluza (Beckman Coulter) and FlowJo (BD).

Cell Sorter Software

Cell Sorter Software is the system software operating the Sony SH800SFP. You can import your Sony experiment files (in .expdat format) to access all information related to your sorts, including but not limited to gates used, sort mode, sort efficiency, number of sorted events.
User account: Analysis
Password: the same as the user password on other IOF equipment. Contact us if you need any help.

CytExpert

CytExpert is the system software operating the CytoFLEX LX. You can import your CytoFLEX experiment files (in .xit format) to access all information related to your analysis, including gates you used on the cytometer. CytExpert can also handle .fcs files.

Kaluza Software

Kaluza (Beckman Coulter)  can be used in the same way as ‘FlowJo Software’ for analysis of any of your .fcs files. Detailed manual on Kaluza can be found here.

FlowJo Software

FlowJo is one of the most common Flow Cytometry Analysis Software (FlowJo v10.8.1 see functions).

You can reach the plugins through the Workspace menu. Note, that some have to be applied to the whole workspace through the ‘Add Workspace Plugin’ option in order to work, and for some, you have to select the appropriate tubes first, and then apply the plugin.
